Pack your Access Card for ultimate convenience

Using ABMs while you travel is a good way to have access to your accounts and Student Line of Credit. An ABM network lets you withdraw cash while you’re away.

One way to save money when you travel is to avoid paying unnecessary fees each time you withdraw cash.

Your TD Canada Trust Access Card lets you take advantage of NO FEE access to your funds throughout Canada, as well as FREE PLUS Network access in many U.S. locations.

In Canada: Use your Access Card at more than 2,500 TD Canada Trust ABMs across the country for NO FEE access.

  • You’ll have all the same options you have at home including withdrawing and transferring funds, checking account balances and paying bills.
  • Use our Branch/ABM locator to find ABMs near your destination before you go.

In the United States: Click through to find out where you can use your Access Card and still enjoy no PLUS Fees access in hundreds of key locations:

  • 750 TD Banknorth ABMs in New England and the Mid-Atlantic region
  • 750 TD Bank ABMs in the Mid-Atlantic, Washington and Florida
  • 975 Presto! ABMs located in Publix Super Markets in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama
  • Look for the PLUS System logo anywhere else in the U.S. for access to your TD Canada Trust account, subject to the normal system fee.

Plus LogoA million international locations: You can also use your card to access your TD Canada Trust accounts in over 170 countries around the world displaying the Visa/PLUS system logo.

Avoid carrying large amounts of cash

Losing your money while away is an easy way to ruin a vacation. Carry the right amount of cash for incidentals and use our TD Canada Trust Access Card to pay for things by direct debit.

  • In Canada: Use your Access Card at any retailer displaying the Interac logo.
  • NYCE LogoIn the U.S.: You can use your Access Card and your normal PIN at about 1.75 million U.S. retailers displaying the NYCE logo. Your payment will be drawn from your account instantly at the Canadian/U.S. exchange rate at the time of purchase.

Another option is to use your TD Visa Card when travelling. Depending on the Card you choose, you could earn TD Points for travel,  cash back rewards, or have built-in travel accident insurance.

Have some local currency in pocket

It’s always a good idea to carry a small amount of local currency when you travel, so you won’t have to worry about exchanging your money or finding an ABM the minute you reach your destination.

And, depending on where you travel, it may be tough to find a foreign-exchange agency that gives you a good exchange rate on Canadian dollars.

Exchange rates can vary, depending on where you go, so go to your TD Canada Trust branch to order your foreign cash at competitive rates.  The cash will take between 3 and 5 business days to arrive.  Click here for a list of currencies and services.

Order your foreign currency online for even more convenience. Click here for the details.

To see how much the currency you need is worth in Canadian dollars, use our Foreign Exchange Calculator.

Get Travel Medical Insurance — your student travel companion

When you travel outside of your home province, your provincial or territorial health insurance plan may not cover the full cost of medical emergencies. And when travelling outside of Canada, you run the risk of having to pay expensive foreign medical costs if anything happens to you.

Pack the protection of Travel Medical Insurance for your next trip.

TD Canada Trust Travel Medical Insurance has various travel plans to suit your needs:

  • Annual Plan is your best value if you’re a frequent traveller and take multiple trips of up to 17 days during the course of the year. Only the Annual Plan includes Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage.
  • Per Trip Plan is great if you travel occasionally or make trips that last one to 182 days.

It’s convenient to purchase insurance online, using our easy, one-step quote generator.
